Entering Records

It can certainly take a lot of time to input records into genealogy software. There are over 15 000 individuals in my database and probably another 5 000 to 10 000 to enter yet. Slowly but surely it is all being compiled in the one place (with backups of course), or rather, software program/file. I’m hoping that in another 12-18 months I’ll have a completed product/book – not that it will all be up to date of course, as it keeps changing with births, deaths and marriages, but at least there will be something available to provide some background to the family’s history.

Once the information is entered there will need to be some reviewing of it, but that will also be an ongoing process.

Tracing Our History: Research Collaboration Features

I have just done a bit of an update of links and sites on the collaboration page – things have certainly changed a bit with various web applications and social networks disappearing since I created it.

Site Updates

Just a short post to let everyone know that there have been a range of site updates across the site. The main change has been the removal of social networking links and buttons that required constant updating. I don’t think these are necessary anymore.

Lost File Found

My confused records have just become a little clearer, with a lost file found. This found file will save me a heap of work and now brings me back to where I was when I last worked on the family tree. Pages of records will now not have to be re-entered into the software via a previously saved backup of the file. I have now saved a new backup of the file and so relief here is palpable.

So work is about to begin and indeed has begun on family history records and the like again – not only that, but I feel a little keen to do so also, so that will help also.

Confused Records

I have started to look at the family history records and material again – it has been a few years since I have seriously considered this work. I think I could probably write quite an article as to why it has been so long, but the short version will do – injury, illness and other commitments. I am going to try and get back into it and to do so I’ll have to review everything as I have no idea as to where I’m up to with it all. Everything is somewhat confused and a lot of that has to do with everything being in storage for a while following my car accident a number of years ago and my having moved not long before that. Anyhow – I have it all to do.

Limited Posts

I have had some surgery in recent times and while everything seems to be going OK, healing well and all the rest, I have been finding some difficulty while sitting at the computer – so I have been easing off on the posts in recent times. I expect this will continue for the next couple of weeks or perhaps a bit longer than that. I don’t intend to stop posting completely, but there will be far fewer posts during this period. One or two Blogs that I have will receive no posts during this time, while one or two others will continue to receive the same number of posts throughout this period. However, it is all a bit of a daily thing as to just how many posts I upload.

So all is going well, but a bit of a break and rest is needed to ensure a full recovery. Thanks all 🙂
